Observation details
First male was heard using the descending, rapid "tuk tuk tuk" call at about 33.103615, -116.491876, just after starting the checklist. It eventually showed itself in a cottonwood for several seconds, but it was quite distant (photo on left). The second bird was heard singing at about 33.100966, -116.486083 (about a half-mile east of the first bird), but too distant and too windy to get a decent recording; no visual contact with that bird. The last bird was silent and simply appeared as a red object in a somewhat distant cottonwood (at about 33.100266, -116.477657, a mile to the east of the first SUTA), and barely long enough for a photo (right) before disappearing. Known summering location for this species.
