Observation details
My FOY BWWA type was a hybrid. Yellow, black mask and throat, singing. Pretty skulky, singing from within a brush pile and tangles of vines, then flying across to a(n apple?) tree and singing inside that. Also gave chip notes. Photos show the face and throat clearly, but initially I didn’t get any of the side and wingbars. Refound what I assume is the same bird and got better photos, including side shots showing the wingbars, flight shots, underside/undertail. I think this BWWA x GWWA is a Lawrence’s. Note on photos: the last two in the set are actually from the initial sighting, the rest from when I refound it.
