Submitted to BARC case 342 as Either black or Edible nest and accepted as such. Photo of a photo. On the15th of Feb 2001 whilst driving along Crab Creek Road near the Broome Bird Observatory, a Swiftlet was sighted flying over the road in association with Tree Martins Hirundo nigricans Latitude 17deg, 58’50” South Longitude 122deg 20’05” East. Identification to species level cannot be determined, but it was likely to be either a Black-nest Swiftlet Collocalia maxima or Edible-nest Swiftlet Collocalia fuciphaga, neither of which has been seen in Australia before.
