Observation details
Adult male in breeding plumage showed up around noon. It foraged some and began preening and resting on the shore of the upper mudflats. The large plover exhibited start and stop movements while foraging. Sometimes we saw it hopping on one leg, but when it wanted to it walked normally. It had a black belly, chest, cheeks and throat and white undertail coverts, shoulders (above wings), nape and light colored crown. Its back was dark and it had a medium sized black bill and black legs. Will post photos.
