Observation details
One tern heard/seen flying downstream past the west side of the point. Then it looped around the end of the point and out of sight. I sent a quick rare bird alert text out and continued back to the end of the point in hopes of further documenting the bird. Shortly after, Byron and Wes arrived on the point to chase my reported tern. Initially no luck resighting the tern. But then I spotted two small terns drop down to rest on the water with gulls for a few moments. We were all able to get decent looks of the birds in flight. Eventually, the terns returned to rest on the point for excellent views. Small crested terns in breeding plumage with distinct thin yellow bills, white foreheads, and contrasting dark leading edge to primaries, light gray pointed wings. Photo'd.
