Observation details
Male and female feeding young (briefly begging) in a nest at 38.5161314, -121.7049799. This nest was present and used last year as well. It is 11 feet up in a dead oak branch, completely exposed (compare to last year photo). The parents would gather wads of adult insects or a green inchworm and then go all around the trees near the nest calling and looking at me before entering. They seemed very wary of my presence which is not what I am used to for Bushtits. Pishing and playback brought over another pair of bushtits from just to the W. I followed them back to an area that they foraged and carried food (lots of green inchworms) to a nest at 38.5164040, -121.7054516. Nest was 11' up in fairly dense live branches of valley oak (photo). They were also very wary of me and did not deliver the food until they had gone around me calling several times. A loose group of 2 females and a male seen at 38.5164599, -121.7037391. Carrying food but no nest found. Another male female pair and the rest heard only.
