Observation details
An apparent hybrid of SNEG and LIEG showing mixed characteristics that we've seen since 2018 in the area, mostly around Falmouth. Mixed short plumulaceous (SNEG-like) feathers on the back of the head with a couple longer more pennaceous (LIEG-like) feathers as well. Lores pinkish. Nuptial feathers slightly recurved. This one has been frequenting the Spurwink Marsh since at least 24 April 2024 when first reported by Richard Garrigus. It is visually distinct from what I believe are two hybrids in Falmouth/Gilsland Farm since 14 April. Bird 1 showing pink/red lores while Bird 2 shows "Gray lores with just a hint of yellow/green." One has also been reported at Scarborough Marsh--Pelreco which appears to be Bird 1.
