Observation details
*Rare in context; breeding plumage bird!! Due to late molt compared to migration, it is exceedingly difficult to find RTLO in breeding plumage in CT/NY area. Last night, oddly enough, I was mulling this over and annoyed at the fact that it would probably be years before I saw a breeding plumage RTLO, so imagine my surprise when the first bird I landed on today was not the monochromatic gray and white bird I’m used to seeing all year! Not 100% there, but red on the throat was viable and the body and neck especially were a deep, rich gray. Darker beak as well. Absolute stunner of a bird that even came in fairly close for good scope views. Eventually it drifted off to the E.
