Observation details
About 200-400 birds (mostly males singing, making other colony sounds and commuting back and forth, though there were also several females following them around) in the reeds along the shore of the east lake. 100-200 birds, mostly females in colony in NW corner, again with a lot of noise and apparently bringing back food (or nesting material?) from fields to the north while the males stayed in the reeds. Scattered birds elsewhere, all around the lake in small numbers. Conditions too poor to do any sort of systematic survey today. There may be more birds than reported here, especially along the inaccessible eastern shore of this pond. Lots of good feeding habitat around the lake this year -- I expect them to nest successfully if undisturbed
