Observation details
After flying from Washington Lake in New Windsor, the Little Gull joined in with a flock of Bonaparte's on the Hudson where they spent the rest of the day drifting and repositioning on the water between Plum Point and Donahue Park in Cornwall, and could be seen distant from Breakneck Train Station viewing platform in Dutchess County. I believe this bird is a county first for both Orange and Dutchess counties. Adult bird almost in breeding plumage with black underwings and a pink glow to its breast and belly. On the water, visibly smaller and brighter-looking than the Bonaparte's with its white primaries. It did appear to have some black at the wingtips but that was actually the underside of the wing showing a bit. Fantastic day, happy for all who got to see it.
