Observation details
Likely a Larus sp., but the dark bill and legs are perplexing (with no apparent coloring on adjacent feathers, suggesting actual bare-parts coloration rather than staining). Molting into definitive alternate plumage, based on uniform grey mantle and coverts, and adult secondaries, inner primaries, and P5. Light, almost bluish eye in direct observation which does not show as well in photos. Bill appeared heavy for a ring-billed gull, though plumage characteristics best fit that species. Could not rule out unknown hybrid based on strange combination of these characteristics.
