Observation details
Oceanside in water with LAGU. Large gull heavy set bill and black back. Another joined the first gull shortly after sighting the first. Near end of survey a third possible sub-adult hybrid was sighted on the beach. This third bird appeared to have the proportions of a large gull. We are confident that the first two birds are good candidates for CHUGU, third bird may need more opinions. Will attach photos of the first and third bird. Edit: After looking at photos of the sub-adult bird, it looks like a HERG, can see some light gray plumage coming in on the scapulars. Adjusted count to two hybrids and added photos of the first hybrid.
