Observation details
Hope I have this right. At first, I thought this was an odd looking Meadow Pipit. After consulting books and on line differences think this is a Tree Pipit. Two birds flew from some nearby trees, one flew off into the trees unseen and the other landed confidently on the rope fence in front of us. Long slender body, strong facial markings, supercilium falls well behind the eye, no visible eye-ring (small dark eye stripe in front of eye breaking any white marking under the eye), stout bill, plain and uniform ear coverts, flattish head vs. Meadow Pipit. Median coverts have distinctive white edges. Well arched hind claw. Streaked top of head and mantle. Steaks on breast are roundish leading to a abrupt no-streaking on belly. Olive coloring on back and in supercilium.
