Observation details
Bizarre sight shortly after sunrise. While driving on Rt 79, a bird atop the next utility pole was definitely not the usual Red-tailed Hawk. Thankfully, we were able to pull off safely and stop to confirm that this was a Snowy Egret! From what I could tell, the nearest possible tank on maps is about 1km away (and could be dry). Photos indicate a breeding plumage adult bird. Very neat to encounter this migrant passing through the desert. I included one photo to give some habitat context.
