Observation details
Both were out on a mudflat out in Ellis Bay down Riverlands Way almost as far as the Corps workshed - out in the bay across from it. They both stayed very near each other most of the time. If one ventured off, they eventually rejoined each other. Both had that horizontal posture these small plovers use. They were both small and plump, both had light brown upperparts compared to the nearby darker Semipalmated Plovers. Both were in breeding plumage and had short orange bills with black tips, black crown stripes and black neck bands. Their eyes stood out against their pale faces. Please see photos.
