NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 12. Bulk reel: 113 Weather: Fair. a) Voice notes re: experiments. At 10:45 AM I had meant to try experiment, but I got too close to nest and bird flew; gave alarm as above, then silent since. Quality: 1-2. Level: +5. Also recording of song by male (may be different male from that of nest. Then a Glaucidium brasilianum starts to call and after a short while a Thamnophilus punctatus starts to give alarm calls. (This is then continued as Cut 18 of Glaucidium brasilianum.) b) After the owl was collected, the male Thamnophilus punctatus now gives bother notes because I'm standing by the nest. Quality: 1-2. Level: +5. c) 5:10 PM. Weather: Clear. Voice note re: more experiments, birds had been silent since about 2:30 PM. Then different type notes by female (corresp. to "caw" of Thamnophilus doliatus?) Then other different type notes (by male?). Quality: 2. Level: +5. Subspecies information provided by Isler, Isler, and Whitney as part of their study on species limits in the T. punctatus complex (see Isler et al. 1997). The "How Identified" and "Confidence in Identification" values pertain to the recordist's original identification without subspecies name. -Matt Medler, 16 December 2009. ML: Subject changed from recordist's original identification of Thamnophilus punctatus punctatus to Thamnophilus punctatus punctatus/interpositus to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015.
