Observation details
This (Plumbeous vs Cassin’s) is always a difficult call for me. Let me admit upfront that I was influenced by 2 other sightings of this species that I had in the same area (Chevron Corner) earlier this year. That said, my impression was that this bird had no greenish-yellow tinge on its flanks or on the edges of its secondaries. I noticed only gray. It was also my impression that the bird had a strong contrast between its gray cheek and white throat. Unfortunately, I did not manage any useful side-view docu-shots (quite a few small branches in the foreground confusing my camera). I realize that the one photo I did manage is not very useful with regard to field marks.
