Media notes
Female (in nest) eliciting copulation from male
Observation details
Noted by David McDermitt 4/22, there is an active Osprey nest on a pole near the bend in the road. I saw a smaller pile of sticks on 4/20 and neighbors report activity there for the last 2 weeks. Did not see any nest building today, although the nest is quite large. The presumed female fiddled with sticks just a bit. While I watched, the presumed male brought a fish at least 4 times to the nest, and the female brought one at least once. The birds copulated once, and there was much coming and going from the nest, but the presumed female mostly stayed on the nest, although did not appear to be incubating. Clearly this is an active, occupied nest. The nest was not present last year, so it has been built this spring.
