Observation details
Would assume House Finch but absolutely did not fit (even as yellow phase). After extensive study appeared to be a Great Rosefinch which has never been reported in North America and would never be accepted because of that and could possibly be an escaped imported petbird. Feature that strongly match the Rosefinch and seperate from House Finch is the strongly spotted head and throat without stripes. Striped nape. Plain unmarked back and no visible wingbars. Dark undertail without obvious slightly notched tail. Larger size Have recording which sounds comparable to Great Rosefinch as in xano-canto xc385511 from Tajikistan but is also comparible to a House Finch so is not of much use for id. seperation
