Observation details
Continuing male reported here a few times in recent days, and perhaps the same bird reported intermittently around the Baylands for the past several years. With shovelers in Harriet Mundy Marsh. White facial crescent. Head color intermediate between iridescent blue-green of Northern Shoveler (NSHO) and blue-gray of Blue-winged Teal (BWTE). Body coloration overall like NSHO, but reddish breast and side coloration blending from more BWTE-like on breast to more NSHO-like on sides. Breast orange-salmon with black spots, as on BWTE, but flanks reddish, as on NSHO. Nice to see this bird again!
