Observation details
Mom, Dad, two fledged owlets, and at least one calling softly from inside the box. The two owlets fledging last night may represent an unprecedented early date in this area. Given incubation would have lasted about a month and the nestling period nearly the same, this puts the egg date in late February. Three out of four previous years in my yard saw the first fledgling on May 30, meaning the egg dates would have been around March 1. Pics represent Mom (well-hidden) and one fledgling, and Dad alone, snoozing.
