Media notes
What was known as Rufous Antpitta at the time, now (2024) Cajamarca Antpitta, called in apparent response to my playing of a pygmy-owl tape. From dense undergrowth of high-elevation woodland with a bit of Polylepis, mainly along fencerows, but also some natural within the woodland. Near Cruz Congo. Digitized from original tape recording on a Sony TCM5000, with a Mineroff booster & a Sennheiser series mic with foam windscreen.
Observation details
3200-3450m, E side Abra Gran Chimu; one seen, five more heard; including in pine plantation; our first exposure to the distinctive voice of cajamarcae (recorded);
