Observation details
Blue-winged Warbler (Vermivora cyanoptera) RARE: very early migrant for this time of year. Yellow warbler with blueish wings white wingbars and outer tail feathers. A thin black eyeline and yellow face. We initially saw a yellow bird with white outer tail feathers flitting around on the northern side of the bridge. The weather was terrible for any neotropical migrant, wet, dizzel and a light wind and raw! Foraging intently it took off and we could not relocate it. A good series of Photos was taken before we lost it. It has been a number of years since this bird has been on my year list. Perfect weather for migrants passing over the ocean. This bird was foraging intently. In the last photo, you can see the bird is eating a springtail.
