Observation details
Great find by Paul Lehman this morning - 5th spring record of the species. We were fortunate to have it fairly close to us and actually see the partially webbed toes. How to reach this location is a bit tricky. Park on Hollister. Walk down dirt road directly south of the Pony Land corrals. The road/trail makes a turn, but we forged ahead up onto the flower covered berm. We waded through chest high flowers until we reached an area with feeding shorebirds. Luckily, the target bird was towards the east end of the mudflat, associating with a handful of Least Sandpipers, not with the larger flock of peeps that were on the west end.
