Observation details
At Willie’s feeding station posing on the feeder pole and mostly feeding on the ground. A bit larger than a house sparrow, an adult female or a male coming into brighter plumage but I don’t know that for sure. All the field marks were seen on this very cooperative bird. It’s all brown to gray on the upper parts without any wing bars. It has a cardinal type dull white beak, yellow eyebrow, gray cheek and clean white throat. A yellow malar stripe has a thin black stripe on each side that continues under the chin. Below the stripe is a yellow bib. There is only a hint of rufous on the shoulders. I have a photo to add later. Great find by Willie!
