Observation details
Viewed w/ Scott H. and Doug S. I looked at several individuals for many minutes over the period of a couple hours w/ scope. I saw at least two Ibis having the markings for glossy. This included a definite dark brown eye, narrow pale lines around the eye, lack of red skin around the eye and the lack of more prominent white feathers around the eye. I saw dull reddish legs, Sibley shows brighter reddish legs for a spring white-faced. Grey legs per the literature are a fall marking not a spring marking. My photo of a single dark Ibis here as viewed on the computer later, shows a definite dark brown eye with the narrow pale lines and lack of red around eye and lack of white feathers around eye which matches Sibley's illustrations for a March - Aug Glossy Ibis. It is suggested that ebird reviewers or others have to see these birds in person instead of just looking at the media. ***Per further discussion and review, I m reducing qty to 1 glossy and 5 glossy/w-faced.
