Chick nestled on adult's back.
Observation details
One very young chick on its parent’s back, on top of a nest. For a time one of the adults was attempting to feed the chick a fish (probably a minnow) that was much too large. The chick attempted to swallow the fish several times unsuccessfully. The adult also caught several more small fish it fed to the chick as well as feathers to line the chicks stomach in preparation fish bones.
