Observation details
Intermediate-morph juvenile - photos. Heavily streaked below with dense markings through underwing coverts, with finely banded and uniformly pale ventral flight feather surface. Dorsal view showed fairly uniform cool brown tones, tail uniformly patterned (atypical for Harlan’s) but with some asymmetrical mottling on the primaries. Rectrix tips narrow and pointed, giving classic spiky-tipped tail look. Harlan’s seems to be the best fit - I could be convinced of calurus but leaving it here for now. My first dark morph red-tail of any form here.
