Observation details
Adult male with a female. Photos of female speculum clearly show a broader wingbar vs the trailing edge. According to Reeber's (2015) waterfowl book this is probably the best (only?) way to tell female crecca vs. carolinensis. I've never documented a female crecca in the US so open to suggestions from anyone with more experience.
