Observation details
Strikingly patterned 'Bucephala' drake; exhibiting plumage intermediate of parent species. White head; pale gray cheeks. Short, indistinct crest. Glossy black crown and nape; encompassing amber-coloured eyes. Black, triangular bill. White body with black coverts and tail. Black mantle; black-and-white wing patch. Photographed. Associating with an ill-defined group of Bufflehead and Common Goldeneye at west end of slough.
