Observation details
Continuing bird - first discovered by Ron Ahle in December and later re-found by Cindy Stacy on April 10. A plump, solid gray bird with notably small bill, prominent eye rings and buffy wing markings. Bird was observed at the exact same spot where Matt Rivers found it on April 11 and at a place where someone had drawn an arrow with TS in the sand. This spot is a short distance to the right after you reach the rock from the upper main trail. The solitaire perched quietly at eye level in a shaded clump of cedars but later foraged on cedar berries and perched briefly in the open on a small dead snag. Thanks to Tammy Hester who first spotted the bird and to Matt Rivers for sharing helpful information. Also, if tromping around, please take care not to step on any plants for some species here are quite sensitive.
