Media notes
A Western Bluebird peers out of a cavity in a telephone pole not long before a European Starling entered the hole.
Observation details
Male and female were using a cavity in a telephone pole, possibly building a nest because female had nesting material one time. Drama began when European Starling went in cavity. Male or female bluebird went to cavity entrance and starling was still inside. Already set on this site, the bluebird was so agitated she was hovering around what it seems would have been their nesting site. After the starling took over, he seemed to be gloating when he got atop the pole and flapped his wings a few times as he turned in different directions.
