Media notes
Female in opening.
Observation details
Summary of several weeks. Pair on eggs as starting on or about Mar 30 to Apr 2. Change in behavior: female stay in nest, would make appearances after sunset in nest box opening, but would go back into after five minutes on avg. Would look back into box on occasion. Male started to appear later in nest box as well, then fly shortly after female went back into box. At times you can hear them trill when he has left the nest and presumably hunting. Usually between 7:50 and 8 PM. Just like last year. Additionally, the male has become increasing cautious, disappearing back into the box if I am nearby. Usually he is nonplussed by my presence. Given warm weather -- near 80 a couple days this week -- the males has been spending more time in box opening starting around noon. Perhaps to help regulate temp inside box. Anyway, images span a two week period.
