Observation details
Continuing, likely the same bird originally reported by Jonathan Brooks on 4/5. About 1 mile up the east end of the Pine tree loop I noticed a hawk with a distinct tail band flying high above the high peaks, before disappearing after several minutes. About 45 minutes later I spotted it again, this time sitting in a snag near the top of the loop around 32.35929, -106.56428. A small hawk with high-contrast black and white tail bands, light mark on throat, horizontal stripes on chest, and a thin dark edge around the underside of the wings in flight. Photos. I originally expected this would be a new individual but after seeing it actually using the habitat sitting on the snag instead of just flying through, I suspect it is the same 4/5 bird
