Observation details
Continuing. Finally showed up around 11:00 AM. It was a very hard bird to find but once found, It was extremely cooperative. Best viewed form the sidewalk along the ship impoundment area, here: (38.329551, -123.058508). One of the most reliable ways to distinguish The Yellow-Billed Loon from the Common Loons, is the YBLOs lack of a distinct dark line running along the ridge of the upper mandible (From the base to at least near tip). However, the Yellow-Billed Loon does have a dusky smudge near at the base of the upper mandible.
