Observation details
Green C:02 regularly travels between Northumberland (Hauxley usually) and Madrid each year. Green C:02 is one of 3 chicks which were colour-ringed on 28 June 2015 on Coquet Island, Northumberland. It was seen in the winter of 2017 at a landfill site near Madrid, Spain (amongst 4000 other gulls!), and has been seen there several times, for example on 28 Oct 2018 at Colmenar Viejo landfill (40º 39´ 40´´ N/03º 43´ 30´´ W), Madrid. It has also been seen back in Northumberland and was seen on 30 Sept, 2018, fairly close to its natal site. On 28 October 2018 it was back on Colmenar Viejo landfill in Spain. In 2019, it was seen at Hauxley on 20 May, 2 June and 26 July. In 2020, it was at Druridge Pools on 28 April and back at Hauxley on 2 July 2020. In 2021, it was seen at Hauxley on 29 August and then in 2022 at Hauxley on 7 May and 11 September, and on Coquet Island on the intertidal area on 31 July 2022. Last winter, it was seen at the Pinto landfill (40º 15´ 38" N; 03º 38´ 06" W) near Madrid, Spain, on 25 February 2023. It has been seen again at Hauxley on 17 March 2024.
