Observation details
Continuing birds. All 5 seen together on a utility pole shortly after arrival, initially just west of great southern overland stage route near that road's intersection with kickin' horse trail (33.0765138, -116.4387445). We observed the birds from the overland as they flew a short distance to the northeast, all landing on a different pole just south of the southern terminus of buckboard trail (33.0792299, -116.4372201). A local pulled over and we had a great conversation - she was excited about the hawks and showed us some videos on her phone of the hawks taking turns bathing in her backyard water feature. We followed her advice to drive east on Wells Fargo and south on buckboard and got excellent and prolonged views of all 5 birds. After about 20 minutes, the entire group of 5 flew another short distance west and landed on a nearby windmill. At least one bird was often vocalizing with a high pitch 'squeal' type call, which (in a way) reminded me of certain Western Gull vocalizations.
