Media notes
Beginning of second boardwalk with Railbed Island oaks in the distance, flanked on the left by trees on the middle (2nd) island and on the right by trees on the last (3rd) island.
Observation details
From the beginning of the second boardwalk and keeping out of sight from incoming RUBL, counted incoming RUBL with a digital clicker as they passed by the second boardwalk. Used the "Just Press Record" app on Apple Watch to transcribe audio notes. Rusties settled on treetops on all three islands at Partridge and staged to roost. From the beginning of the second boardwalk, I was surrounded by singing Rusties (kerglee and squiggle). Multiple flights also flew southwest of Partridge toward the railbed. At least one of those flights would have been difficult to see from the railroad bed. 6:17 pm Heard first RUBL singing behind me on first island. 6:35 pm. First flights counted with the digital clicker as they flew past the second boardwalk. 6:42 pm. Subtotal 31 RUBL 6:54 pm Most of the RUBL on the middle island trees flew toward the railroad bed. 6:57-7 pm The remaining RUBL on the first island flew toward the railroad bed. 7 pm. All was quiet.
