Media notes
very active area of finches that begins with siskins and type 4s, with flight calls and some that were singing, starting about 00:20 the two type 2 crossbills can be heard and the recording under that species was taken immediately afterwards
Observation details
audio; type confirmed by Tim Spahr; the two encounters that I have confidently placed in type 4 (both audio recorded) were three birds heard and then seen crossing the ski slope above me about halfway down Breeze and then a good recording session with siskins, type 4s, and type 2s at the Crosswind x Backdraft intersection. However, I think the five birds under Red Crossbill were also type 4 Audio recordings are strongly affected by the noise from skiiers -- active ski slopes are not ideal spots for recording crossbills! I edited out some of the louded yells.
