Observation details
Scarce in county despite regional abundance on the outer coast, fairly reliable along this stretch of the East River during spring migration and occasionally hanging around into summer. Large, piebald shorebird perched on a distant rock early in the morning, far off the northeast shoreline and between South Brother Island and Lawrence Point Ledge. Eventually disappeared, perhaps disturbed by the nearby antics of a young Peregrine Falcon on the hunt
