Media notes
My photos were grossly overexposed (neglected to check settings ahead of time), so I used a photo editor to fix the images, and colors did not restore properly, so the pale yellow belly, for example, does not appear to be as bright as it should be.
Observation details
Initially I heard it give several fairly loud Peep calls. Its general plumage appeared to be a drab, uniform gray on head & back, while the underparts were a paler shade of gray, darker on the breast and contrasting with a very pale throat, and with a pale yellowish cast on the belly. It had a very long primary projection and a bit of brown coloration in the wings & tail that was obviously notched. The bill was black, with a hint of orange along the edge in some views, and relatively short. The almond-shaped eyering was broken above the eye. The head showed a bit of a crested outline on top My photos were grossly overexposed (neglected to check settings ahead of time), so I used a photo editor to fix the images, and colors did not restore properly, so the pale yellow belly, for example, does not appear to be as bright as it should be.
