Observation details
Fantastic surprise - large, beige Loon way out in Lynn Canal. Observed at the very end of my hike along the shore from mouth of Kowee to Kowee Creek cabin. Neck looked darker brown than I have observed on other Yellow-billed Loons, fish scale pattern visible on back, ivory white beak held at angle. Caught a Starry Flounder, dunked it for a few minutes before swallowing it. Earspot visible. Very far off shore, could not see this Loon at all with naked eye, observed at 25-60x with ATX/65mm, got only low quality photos but how wonderful of an observation.
