Observation details
***mega - apparent second state record found on the piles by J. Collison about an hour prior. Uploading as Vega primarily to spread the word further but it does appear to be a very good candidate. Fairly disheveled-looking gull, noticeably darker mantle shade than surrounding HERG, though not nearly as dark as LBBG. Bright legs, a much darker/richer shade of fleshy pink than surrounding birds (similar to SBAG). Some smudgy brown streaking mostly around the nape. Wing pattern fits Vega nicely, with a "string of pearls" on the outer primary tips and one mirror on P10. Wide white trailing edge to the secondaries, forming a slightly larger tertial crescent in the folded wing than surrounding HERG. A bit more pot-bellied than surrounding HERG but not extreme. Not significantly longer-winged or intermediate in leg shade as in HERGxLBBG. Pale iris with faint red orbital (seen in E. Ress pics). Will amend if necessary. Many photos tba
