Observation details
Linda Ireland and I began hearing KIRA "Kek-Churr" song on May 2, 2017. We believe this is a female advertising for a mate at the start of breeding season, based on information from Steve Arena. Tonight we heard the KIRA in emergent marsh. Audio recordings over multiple evenings were sent to Steve Arena for confirmation of KIRA. This KIRA was accidentally found during a Rusty Blackbird spring census. This KIRA sighting was also submitted to the NHESP online database for state listed birds.
