Observation details
At first, as I looked into the normal little islands of the Pectoral, I was a little disappointed with the lack of my favourite species... and then I remembered something; when I first saw the Pectoral back with my old companions earlier in the year, it was very happily pottering about in the middle of the wetlands with the Teals. Sure enough, I scanned through the Teal flock... and... there, quite simply, it was!!! It was in very contented form, trundling up and down the exact same stretch of mud amongst the Teals, occasionally resting up between a couple of little islands... the only real issue with the adventure was the fact it was so busy feeding that, in all honesty, it was a bit of a challenge to bag any shots without its beak thrust squarely into the waters!! I was struck once again by the brilliant orange glow of the legs even from this distance, and also the feature I've noticed before but never really commented on somehow; compared to Sharp-Tails, Pectorals have very fine, arched cheekbones, adding a "round-headed" look that I only noticed with the most recent 0rielton birds side by side!!
