Observation details
Heard a flock of waxwings as I came outside and noticed a distinct trill that sounded more like bohemian (I only know bohemian calls from recordings) among the cedars. I made a short recording and Merlin suggested both cedar and bohemian. I went to the car to get bins and just as I got back to the tree the flock flew off. I followed them to a nearby tree, but they flew again. So I did not get a good view. I did see one bird in the flock as it flew away from me that appeared slightly bigger and maybe a tad darker. I evaluated the recording and the spectrogram looks good for bohemian with direct comparison with the cedar calls. This is my first encounter with this species in the field. Hoping for better views some time.
