Observation details
At least one is continuing. Surprisingly easy to find, perched/foraging on piles of dead thistle at the south beach. Good looks; easily observed for 20 minutes. Both female/winter plumage. Large sparrow with thick bluish bill. Streaky breast with a central dark patch. Pale superciliary and throat markings. Dark malar stripe. Long pale patch on wing. They perched together. One frequently held the crown lifted. Photos (phone scoped).
