Observation details
Intermediate traits between this Herring and Lesser Black-backed, e.g. mantle obviously dark but paler than LBBG, legs and toes were a straw yellow and webbing was pink. Long primary projection demonstrative of LBBG parent; slightly but noticeably larger than nearby LBBGs. Herring Gull-influenced traits included paler color to mantle than LBBG, pale straw-yellow legs with intermixed pink highlights, larger body size compared to LBBG, and especially heavy proportions– e.g. heavy bill, thick neck, broad wings, and shorter primary projection. Structurally, this bird was more similar to Herring Gull than Lesser Black-backed Gull.
