Observation details
Walking back from seeing piping plovers I saw a large bird flying towards me..I thought.. harrier…just got camera on it when he saw me and landed briefly in tree about 40 ft away. We both looked at each other..me through the lens he with his head cocked. Apparently he decided I wasn’t much of a threat and continued flying right by me at eye level. Its not every day a raven does something like this, so Id thought Id share my experience. Poor fellow looks pretty worn. I watched him fly off to make sure he didn’t see the plovers on the mud flats below …he flew right over them and continued his slow heavy wingbeats towards pleasure beach.
