Observation details
A diminutive shorebird distinguished by its small head and adorned with a short, relatively straight, dark bill. In its nonbreeding plumage, faint streaking can be observed on the sides of its breast. The upper plumage feathers exhibit scaly grey-brown tones with pale fringes. The presence of a dark cap and eyebrow stripe, as well as a scaly back pattern, suggests that this individual might be a juvenile. Due to my proximity and favorable lighting conditions, the color of its legs appeared slightly brownish, contrasting with the accompanying Western Sandpipers and Least Sandpipers, which displayed legs either pure black (WESA) or yellowish (LESA).
